...needs wallpaper

What have I been doing lately?

A fancy lil' wallpaper as part of a project I'm taking on.

...wants a domain name

I'm happy to say that a new website of mine is in the works, having started building it up today. There won't be any preview shots of any behind the screens progress, but the style will be at least similar to how this blog looks with the trademark 'finger print' motif. Just see if it doesn't get published by next Monday!

While I work on with that, here is another preview of a graphic I spent some time ago putting together. At the moment it's waiting to be immortalised on clothing by courtesy of Shirtlab. You'll see the whole thing when it arrives.

...debuts a new blog

Yes! My third blog is made here only yesterday, but with enough updates on a daily basis, it should take a life on its own soon. It's also related to one of my projects for university: speaking in the Cumbrian dialect, where I am from. You can view it here:

http://stephencdialect.blogspot.co.uk/

There's a good chance that hardly anyone will have an idea what I am talking about when reading the posts on that blog. It's pretty much the intention anyways, and lets the readers themselves interpret the way the dialect is spoken instead of having too much information handed to them. Plus, it's more fun than I thought even though I don't get the punctuation of the proper way it's spoken bang on in the first go, it can always improve later on towards the submission of my uni projects this semester. Long story short - I am going for more of a screen-based social media representation for this particular course, with desktop wallpaper, screensavers and faux ad space coming along the way.

...had more to graze over

More work from my graze project from a month ago The second requirement is a new logo if it were to replace the old one:

Lastly, here are some important graphic elements to handle the new branding, such as how the snack box itself should look inside protective packaging when delivered.

...says it with 'graze'

Time to show off my latest entries that were related to one project, in seperate posts to reduce clutter. A rebranding of the nutritious snack company graze. First up, the direct-to-mail brochure as required from one of three briefs.

...still draws for life

Quite a long break from my last post, eh? Not to worry, as it all involved sorting through my uni work in preparation for the end of year exhibition. The dissertation has long since been handed in and three new projects have surfaced. Have some more life drawing samples while I get ready to add some new additions to the blog.

...has news

First up, my web design on the proper HTML version of my portfolio site is coming along well. The developing stage anyway as I am horrible at publishing it myself. I'll get to that once I'm ready to do so. Also be prepared for a design makeover for this blog along with my stationery sets that are yet to be posted up. Tomorrow's uni class should give me the motivation to keep myself busy for the next month and a while.

Have a taster of what's coming up: :)

...tries something different - Influences #1

I thought I'd add something a little different to the blog this time by citing one of my big influences in design, the name being Mark Wilkinson.

http://www.the-masque.com/

Best known in the world for the artist of Judas Priest's modern album covers and also co-operating with Marillion and Fish. The website itself is well put together as if to reflect one's proud and strongest traits (note to self). What strikes me is how his work sells itself well on an ordinary piece of packaging and can possiblly add strength and the passionate value to both. With that in mind, cover albums go a long way and collectors and designers belonging to such can certainly respond to that. And that's how I bought the Painkiller CD way back in 2005. :)

This being a personal portfolio site of sorts, I refrain from posting his work on here. You'll get the better idea to checking the above link out.

...wants it to happen now

When it's June. That means we would get sunshine and better weather. Well, 5 months from now wil be my final student exhibition and we each had a poster to create from existing material from the tutors under 4 categories. These are the best two:

...readies up the resume

Don't leave home without it! A simple post made especially for legibility on the widget at the right. Don't view this image or you'll need to right-click to view it.

...could eat a sandwich

I suppose this is acceptable for today. :) It's a work in progress that I hope would become a reality one day. Would you like to carry your data in a drive like this?

...draws for life

Something different this time, dug into my drive for selection of my life drawing from years' back. Have them in threes:

...and some very black books

A set of three from last year's graphic course. The Don Quixote stands were bought from London's Portobello market a long while back.

...does it in Nevada

With the kindest permission from my intern, I have a copy of this menu to show. A cocktail menu for a venue with a Las Vegas-esque casino theme, which I later learned to my delight that it was held there last summer. No, I didn't go there sadly.

...tries corporate branding

So let's begin with this one:

This was a(n imaginary) company based on a uni assignment from last year to put my creative branding skills to the test and sell the company name. Included are letterheads, envelopes, double-sided open letters and of course, the business cards. I made another set of branding accessories not related to this brief; I'm sure you will understand why. :)

...begins anew

Testing, testing, Scunthorpe...

As you can tell, I'm pretty rusty with Blogger, having made only two blogs with 15 posts together in under a couple of years and an even older one from Livejournal back when it was hip to have one. In a few days time though, I will have fleshed out this blog and turn it into a makeshift website while I am developing the real thing in Dreamweaver this month. It'll be nice to give you all a taster of what I do with my early design career so lap it up. :)
